The
Sri Ranganathaswamy temple in Srirangam Island encircled by
the Cauvery and Coleroon rivers has a unique place in Indian
history. The base only of the Rajagopuram was designed with
all grandiose and constructed by the great Chola kings almost
10 centuries ago. However it was in the year 1987 that the
Rajagopuram, the 238-foot, highest temple tower in the world
was completed, by the 44th pontiff of the Ahobila Mutt. |
